The role of DNFBPs in fighting financial crime
On Tuesday 13 June at the Grand Hotel from 8:30 am - 11:00am, we are hosting an event as part of our ongoing engagement to raise awareness of financial crime risks, as well as the prevention of financial crime, we will be hosting a free event dedicated to Jersey’s Accountants, Casinos, Estate Agents, High Value Dealers and Lawyers who are defined as Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions (DNFBPs) in Schedule 2, Part 3 of the proceeds of Crime (Jersey) Law 1999.
Hear from senior officials of Jerseys key financial crime authorities, and the important role DNFBPs play in the fight against financial crime.

Changes to how the JFSC will supervise DNFBPs

Review of AML/CFT/CPF requirements

An overview of JFSC dedicated DNFBP Thematic Programme 2023 (SAR reporting obligations)

Guest presenter Richard Pedley Assistant Director of Financial Crime Strategy at the Government of Jersey will be giving a summary of what to expect from the forthcoming MONEYVAL assessment of Jersey, the role DNFBPs can play in safeguarding our Island from financial crime, how others may seek to exploit the Island for ML/FT/PF purposes, and how to protect against this whilst providing a MONEYVAL overview & typologies.

Guest presenter Jonathan Groom Director of Jersey’s Financial Intelligence Unit, will be speaking about the Evolution of the Financial Intelligence Unit and their vision for 2023/24. How the DNFBP sector may be impacted by money laundering and terrorist financing risks, and how it can support in keeping Jersey’s reputation as an International Finance Centre safe.
After the presentations there will be a Q&A session and the opportunity to speak with the presenters.
