Cyber-security masterclass with global experts to be hosted for directors
The Jersey Financial Services Commission will be holding a Directors’ Cyber-Security Masterclass on Thursday 9 March, in partnership with The Security Awareness Special Interest Group (SASIG), to brief industry on the real nature of the cyber threat to the Island, and the first steps firms should be taking to defend their organisations.
High-profile cyber-security breaches occur seemingly daily, and without respite. The UK Government considers cyber-attacks to be a ‘Tier 1’ threat to UK plc, the CBI considers cybercrime as the greatest danger to business today, and the Island itself has recently launched its own strategy to ensure that Jersey remains a safe place in which to live and do business.
Corporations and public sector organisations alike face serious disruption to their business operations from cyber-attacks, and their reputations can be seriously harmed by high profile strikes from criminals, terrorists and mischief-makers alike.
John Harris, Director General, commented:
“We are delighted to be working with Eugene Kaspersky (CEO of Kaspersky Lab) and Martin Smith MBE (Chairman and Founder of The SASIG) who are international leaders in this field, to bring this cyber security Masterclass to Jersey regulated businesses. There is no hiding place in cyberspace; we are all on the front line and Jersey is no exception. We hope this event will address some of the fears and myths by providing the regulated finance industry with the correct tools and knowledge to address cyber risk and reduce corporate exposure.”
This Masterclass is designed to reach out to Jersey financial entity directors, business owners, CIOs, CFOs, HR Directors, IT Directors, Procurement teams, security managers and business line managers, who so far find themselves uninformed about cyber security, but who recognise that it is a subject they need to learn about.
