Jersey introduces director disqualification sanctions
The Minister for External Relations has made the Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Implementation of External Sanctions – Director Disqualification) (Jersey) Amendment Order 2025, which comes into force on 27 February 2025.
The Order provides that, unless authorised by a licence, it will be an offence for a person subject to director disqualification sanctions to:
- act as a director of a Jersey company, or as a manager of a Jersey limited liability company
- directly or indirectly take part in or be concerned in the promotion, formation or management of a Jersey company or Jersey limited liability company
Further details are provided in the Sanctions legislation update: director disqualification sanctions published on the Jersey Gazette. Please note that no director disqualification designations have been made to date under any UK sanctions regime.
We are updating Sanctions by country and category regimes on our website to include this new type of sanctions measure.
All relevant financial institutions are obliged to report any attempts to breach or circumvent sanctions to the Minister. Supervised persons are reminded that they should keep their Supervisor informed of any potential sanctions breaches.
