Global Irregular Migration and Trafficking sanctions regime comes into effect in Jersey
The Sanctions and Asset-Freezing (Implementation of External Sanctions) (Jersey) Order 2021 (the Sanctions Order) has been amended to add the UK Global Irregular Migration and Trafficking in Persons (Sanctions) Regulations 2025 (the UK Regulations) to the list of implemented UK sanctions instruments under Schedule 1.
The UK Regulations provide for asset-freeze, director disqualification, and travel ban restrictions to prevent people smuggling and trafficking in persons. The regime also targets those who facilitate, promote, or support such activities, directly or indirectly.
The Jersey Amendment Order implementing the regime, along with the designation list for asset freezing and director disqualification sanctions, comes into effect on 23 July 2025.
