Fraud warning: The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited and employee impersonation scam

This statement is to warn members of the public against dealing with unauthorised financial service providers. The impersonating entity has not received authorisation to conduct deposit-taking business and Schedule 2 business in Jersey and has no link to The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited (RC2304).
From documentation held by the JFSC, the impersonating entity is falsely purporting to represent The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited, a genuine Jersey registered and regulated entity. The impersonating entity is also carrying on, or holding out as carrying on, deposit-taking business and Schedule 2 business in or from within Jersey when it is not authorised to do so by the JFSC.
The JFSC confirms the following:
- The impersonating entity and the email addresses are not connected in any way to the genuine Jersey regulated entity The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited based at Royal Bank House, 71 Bath Street, St Helier, Jersey, JE4 8PJ.
- Email addresses with the following suffixes are impersonations - these should be dismissed and reported to the genuine entity: @rbsint.net, @rbsint-uk.com, @rbsinternational.net, @rbsinternational-bonds.com, @rbs-jersey.com, @rbs-offshore.com, @rbsinternationaluk.co.uk, @rbs-london.co.uk, @invest-rbs.com. Please note this is not an exhaustive list.
- The impersonating entity has never been registered, nor applied for registration, under the BB(J)L or the Supervisory Bodies Law. Therefore, any deposit-taking business or Schedule 2 Business carried on by the impersonating entity, is in contravention of Article 8 of the BB(J)L and Article 10 of the Supervisory Bodies Law.
- From documentation held by the JFSC, the impersonating entity and email addresses display warning signs of being set up for fraudulent purposes.
Members of the public are encouraged to take the following steps to verify they are corresponding with the genuine entity:
- only use the official website at rbsinternational.com.
- ensure correspondence from The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited matches the official email domain - @rbsint.com
- follow The Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited’s official guidance on fraud at rbsinternational.com/global/fraud-and-security
