Fraud warning: scam impersonating the JFSC
Fraud warning: scam impersonating the JFSC
We have been made aware that scammers are purporting to be an employee of the Jersey Financial Services Commission (JFSC) using the fake email address ‘thomas.niederberger@jerseyfsc.org.cliopost.com’ (the impersonating email).
The scammers are sending emails to businesses falsely claiming:
- they are being contacted from the JFSC regarding a matter identified in an internal review
- they are being contacted regarding their profile and activity
- the business needs to click on a link to access documents contained in an eFAX which is facilitated by 'CLIOPOST eFAX Delivery'
This is a scam. The impersonating email address and emails sent from it are not in any way connected to the JFSC. If you receive an email like this, do not respond or click on any links or attachments.
How to verify genuine contact from the JFSC
If you have received an email, text, call or letter from the JFSC, and are unsure whether it might be a scam, we encourage you to take the following steps to verify you are corresponding with the genuine JFSC or its employees:
- only use our official website www.jerseyfsc.org
- ensure emails from the JFSC match our email domain – @jerseyfsc.org
- call the JFSC on +44 (0)1534 822000 and ask to speak to the individual who sent, or appears to have sent, the message to verify its legitimacy
