Feedback publication date extended for consultation on enhancements to criminal background checks for principal and key persons

On 29 January 2025, we opened a consultation on enhancements to criminal background checks for principal and key persons.

We have received positive feedback through our drop-in sessions, meetings with industry trade bodies and associations, and our survey.

Your engagement has highlighted that while there is agreement in principle with the introduction of a criminal record certificate requirement, further consideration is needed around the practical application and potential unintended consequences for certain sectors.

To ensure we can respond effectively to your valued responses, we are extending the publication date of the consultation feedback and will confirm this on our website in due course.
