The JFSC issues this public statement under Articles 26(c) of the Supervisory Bodies Law and 48(2) of the BB(J)L.
This statement is to warn members of the public against dealing with unauthorised financial service providers. The impersonating entity has not received authorisation to conduct specified Schedule 2 business (lending) or deposit-taking business within the meaning of the Supervisory Bodies Law and BB(J)L.
From documentation held by the JFSC, the impersonating entity, via the website and email address, is falsely purporting to trade from the address, 158 Anley Street, St Helier, Jersey, JE4 8RD and is carrying on, or holding out that it is carrying on, lending services and deposit-taking business in Jersey when it is not authorised by, or registered with, the JFSC to do so.
Similar public statements were issued by the JFSC in relation to the impersonating entity on 29 July 2013, 30 May 2018 and 18 May 2020, and this public statement serves as a further warning to those who have transacted, or may transact with the impersonating entity, and the public. The JFSC confirms the following:
- The impersonating entity, website and email address are not connected in any way to the genuine Jersey registered entity, BNP Paribas Securities Services S.C.A., Jersey Branch based at IFC 1, The Esplanade, Jersey, JE1 4BP.
- The impersonating entity has never been registered, nor applied for registration, under the Supervisory Bodies Law or BB(J)L. Therefore any specified Schedule 2 business (lending) or deposit-taking business carried on by the impersonating entity, is in breach of Articles 8 of the BB(J)L and 10 of the Supervisory Bodies Law.
- From documentation held by the JFSC, the impersonating entity, website and email address all display warning signs of being set up for a fraudulent purpose.
