We’re simplifying our regulatory framework to support growth

We’re making our regulatory framework easier for you to access, understand and apply consistently. This is a key initiative of our 2026/27 business plan to support growth and be more risk-based and proportionate in our approach.

Today is the first major milestone of our simplification work, where we launch:

• a new set of principles for our regulatory materials, to make sure that what we publish is clear, purposeful and proportionate

• a new consultation charter, so you know what to expect from us when we consult on regulatory proposals

• updates to seven guidance notes to make them clearer and more useful, and the retirement of three guidance notes that are no longer relevant – the updates do not introduce any new code requirements, they clarify and improve consistency

We will keep this page updated as the programme develops. We will make further improvements through our normal policy and governance routes, based on evidence of where changes will make the biggest difference to access and clarity.
