Mid-year update shows all-island drive to deliver growth

Our mid-year update event on 23 June brought together leaders from government and industry, highlighting early signs that the drive to grow Jersey’s financial services sector is beginning to have a positive impact, with increases in approvals and significant momentum in digital assets.

Alongside leaders from government and industry we shared early indicators of progress, including:

  • authorisations of fund services businesses have doubled compared to the same period last year
  • trust company business approvals are already more than double the historical annual average
  • Jersey private fund registrations have increased over the latest six-month period

These results point to tangible progress in improving speed, certainty and the overall experience for firms choosing Jersey.

A key focus of the update was how we are enabling this through a more risk-based and intelligence-led approach, reducing friction for lower-risk activity while maintaining robust standards where they matter most.

Our executive team, as well as government and industry speakers, reflected on the shared focus on supporting growth across Jersey’s financial services sector.
Reflecting the Government of Jersey’s Time to Win report, the event also featured discussion on the growth potential in digital assets and tokenisation, including a panel with members of Jersey’s Digital Assets Innovation Council.

Opening the event, Director General Jill Britton emphasised the importance of working together to support growth: “One of the clearest messages from the Time to Win programme is that delivering growth is an all-island effort. We need to work together – to promote Jersey’s significant strengths, make it easier to do business here, and embrace new opportunities.”

Chair Jane Platt reinforced that focus on execution: “Continuing as we are isn’t an option: we have a clear strategy and now it's all about delivery.”

Closing the session, Jill Britton encouraged continued engagement and invited industry to complete the JFSC’s independent survey, with the results shaping the JFSC’s focus over the coming years.

All members of industry are invited to fill in the survey.
