Jersey AI Council launched to align island-wide AI efforts
A new multi-stakeholder body, the Jersey AI Council, has been launched to co-ordinate and accelerate the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) across Jersey. Chaired by Digital Jersey, the council brings together representatives from government, regulators and industry, including the JFSC, to align AI initiatives, share expertise and drive a collaborative approach. The council is a key recommendation from the developing AI Playbook for Jersey, which outlines a roadmap for impactful and ethical AI integration across the island’s economy.
The formation of the Jersey AI Council marks a pivotal step in ensuring Jersey remains competitive and future-ready. For the financial services sector in particular, AI presents both opportunities and risks. Through our involvement, we will help ensure that innovation is balanced with robust governance, supporting a safe and progressive environment for AI adoption. The council will focus on advocacy, enablement, technical co-ordination and maintaining momentum across sectors, ensuring AI benefits are realised across the whole community.Alan Ainsworth, Executive Director of Policy, Innovation and Marketing and Communications commented, “The launch of the Jersey AI Council is an important milestone for the Island. AI offers huge potential to transform how we work and deliver services, but it also brings challenges that require careful consideration. By working together through the council, we can ensure Jersey adopts AI in a way that drives innovation while protecting trust and integrity.”
We will continue to play an active role in the council’s work, contributing regulatory insight and helping shape a collaborative approach to AI. We encourage industry stakeholders to engage with the council’s initiatives and explore how AI can be responsibly integrated into their operations.
