New guidance available ahead of Intellectual Property Register launch
We've launched new webpages to help you learn about intellectual property in Jersey and prepare for the launch of the Intellectual Property Register and myIPO, our online intellectual property portal.
The new webpages explain:
- what intellectual property is
- why intellectual property matters
- the different types of intellectual property rights
- how to protect intellectual property in Jersey
- the registration process and available guidance
The Intellectual Property Register and myIPO will launch in stages, beginning on 1 August 2026 with core trade mark services.
From launch, users will be able to apply for Jersey trade marks online, manage core trade mark registrations and search the Intellectual Property Register.
Making this guidance available before launch gives you time to understand the registration process, review the requirements and prepare any information you may need before services become available.
Next steps
We'll publish further guidance ahead of launch to help users understand how to use myIPO and prepare for the phased introduction of services.
Core trade mark services will go live on 1 August 2026. International trade mark services are expected from 15 September 2026. Patent and design services will be available directly through the Intellectual Property Office, with services expected from 1 November 2026.
