New Banking Director at the Commission
The Jersey Financial Services Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Sumner as Director of Banking. The Banking Division, which is newly created following an internal restructure, is responsible for the supervision of Jersey's licensed deposit-takers and the development of related regulation and legislation.
Before joining the Commission, Mark previously worked for Barclays in the UK and, more recently, HSBC in Jersey. For the past 18 months Mark has been on secondment to the Commission.
Mark is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. His local activities include being Honorary Treasurer of the Bosdet Foundation, Honorary Secretary of the United Club and a member of Rotary de la Manche.
David Carse, Director General of the Jersey Financial Services Commission, said "The Commission is already aware of Mark's qualities from his time with the Commission and we are delighted that he will be joining us on a permanent basis. His combination of industry experience and regulatory knowledge means that he is particularly well suited to the role of Director of Banking."
