Commission wins National Training Award
The Jersey Financial Services Commission has won a “Highly Commended” National Training Award. At a ceremony in Cheltenham on 5 October 2004, hosted by Dr Graeme Hall (the Acting Chief Executive of UK Skills), Mark Whiteley, Director - Operations and Sally Gallichan, Head of HR were presented with the award by former Olympic swimmer Sharron Davies.
The National Training Awards are the UK’s most prestigious accolade for excellence in training and people development, and 1,007 entries were made by companies and individuals in the South West region alone, with 13 awards being made in the region.
The Commission’s Award was for a programme of care and learning developed around a seriously ill member of staff, providing support to the staff member and work colleagues to provide the right working environment and maintain the dignity and performance of all concerned.
This is the fifth training award won by the Commission in two years, having collected one gold, two silver and a bronze Training in Business awards in Jersey in 2002 and 2003.
