Key changes for regulated service providers
The Government of Jersey has introduced a new law, the Financial Services (Disclosure of Provision of Information) (Jersey) Law 2020, which came into force on 6 January 2021. It requires entities to appoint a nominated person and give us more information on their significant persons.
Appoint nominated persons
You will need to appoint a nominated person who will have access to centrally held private information and the ability to submit updates to registered entities.
Provide significant person information
The most notable change is the requirement to update our central register with details of significant persons. You must also notify us with information changes within 21 days.
The new law provides a definition of the significant persons for each of the different entities. For example, for companies we will require information on directors and secretaries.
Easy Company Registry replacement
We have replaced the Easy Company Registry with myRegistry – your new customer account which allows you to manage your team’s access and portfolio of entities.
Annual confirmation statement replaces the annual return
We are replacing the annual return process with an annual confirmation statement.
The confirmation statement will be a read-only form that will have your information that we hold on the register on 1 January of that year. The nominated person will declare, on behalf of the entity, that the information is accurate.
Your first annual confirmation statement will be due by 30 June 2021.
Foundations to provide abridged regulations
From 6 January 2021, all foundations must provide us with abridged regulations upon incorporation.
Existing foundations must provide these by 6 April 2021 within the transition application.
You will be able to directly connect your systems to a new Application Programming Interface (API), which will allow for efficient two-way exchange of information with us.
We now only accept online payment via credit or debit card.
You can pay by account if you have sufficient funds in your myRegistry financial account. You can transfer funds to your account by BACS.
Registration and changes
You must submit all registrations and changes through myRegistry. We will not accept any paper filings.
