Public Statement - www.aibwt-nominees.com
The Jersey Financial Services Commission (“the Commission”)
has issued this public statement under Article 25(2) of the Financial
Services (Jersey) Law 1998, as amended (the “Financial Services
Law”).
This statement is made in order to warn investors and others
against dealing with unauthorised financial services providers.
The persons named below have not received authorisation to conduct
financial services business within the meaning of the Financial
Services Law.
AIBWT Nominees Limited (“AIBWT Nominees”)
http://www.aibwt-nominees.com
http://aibwt.com (together, “the Websites”)
Jamal Wehbeh
The Commission believes that AIBWT Nominees, as described
on the Websites, is carrying on, or holding out that it is carrying
on, financial service business, in Jersey, when it is not authorised
to do so pursuant to the provisions of the Financial Services Law.
However, it should be noted that there is a genuine company called
AIBJT Nominees Limited, part of the AIB group of companies, a bona-fide
registered financial services provider in Jersey and other jurisdictions.
AIBWT Nominees (as described on the Websites) and the Websites,
are not, in any way, connected to the genuine AIBJT Nominees Limited
or companies within the AIB Group.
The Commission wishes it to be known that:
1. AIBWT Nominees, as described on the Websites, has never been
registered, or applied for registration, under the Financial Services
Law. Therefore, any financial service business, as defined under
Article 2 of the Financial Services Law, carried out in the name
of AIBWT Nominees as described on the Websites, since 1 July 1999,
is a breach of Article 7 of the Financial Services Law.
2. AIBWT Nominees (as described on the Websites), a person purportedly
named Jamal Wehbeh and the Websites are not connected in any way
to AIBJT Nominees Limited and companies within the AIB Group. The
AIB Group has headquarters in Ireland and has a presence in various
jurisdictions including Jersey. Companies within the AIB Group (AIBJT
Nominees Limited and others) are authorised by the Commission to
conduct regulated activities.
3. The Commission wishes to alert members of the public
that the Websites provide false and misleading information and,
from the documentation held by the Commission, it would appear that
AIBWT Nominees (as described on the Websites), an individual purportedly
named Jamal Wehbeh and the Websites display warning signs of being
set up for a fraudulent purpose.
All regulated businesses in Jersey are listed on the Commission’s
website at www.jerseyfsc.org.
Any person who has had dealings with AIBWT Nominees as described
on the Websites is requested to contact the Commission.
